Tai Chi Class Rules of Conduct

      • All are welcome regardless of age, physical ability, ethnicity, spiritual practice, or sexual preference.
      • If you are unsure about your ability to participate please consult your physician and/or healthcare provider. Disclaimer: When Tai Chi and Qigong are practiced correctly, they pose minimal risk to one’s health, and are in fact extremely beneficial. Instructors, substitute instructors, or practice spaces are not liable for mishaps or injury sustained during class or in the practice of Tai Chi. Enrollment in Tai Chi classes signifies that you understand and accept this waver of liability.
      • Students must possess an earnest desire in their self-development.
      • Salute and bow at the beginning of class when asked by the instructor. This shows respect for all those who have practiced this art before us and have passed their knowledge onto us.
      • Students line up according to seniority. Senior students line up at the front next to the instructor then to the left, then beginning students. Students who come late should wait to be asked by the instructor to line up and take their place at the back of the class.
      • The suggested attire for class is a loose fitting long or short sleeve shirt, loose pants, and comfortable, preferably flat, soft-soled or thin-soled shoes. Socks or bare feet are fine. Do not wear jewelry to class. Out of respect for others, please come to practice fragrance and smoke free.
      • For the continuity and grounding of the class, please arrive a few minutes early so that the class can begin on time. Do your best to make it to all the classes. This will give you the most benefit and assure your progress. If you are unable to make a class, please let me know in advance.
      • Notify the instructor by text if you will be absent. You can text to (714) 206-2976.
      • If you must leave class early, please, notify the instructor beforehand.
      • Instructors occasionally travel for studying or teaching. In these cases, classes will continue with a qualified substitute instructor or class will be suspended for the period of absence.
      • Whenever a senior student works with you, thank him/her.
      • Do not attempt to correct any students, even if you think they are wrong. That is the instructor's perogative. When you offer correction to other students, you are assuming the instructor’s role. You not only offend the students but also demonstrate disrespect to the instructor and ego to your classmates.
      • In class you may be asked to teach or correct another student. Do not correct anyone, in class or out, without the direction of an instructor.
      • Treat all students and the classroom space with respect and care.
      • No food or beverages or eating and/or drinking in the classroom, only water in water bottles will be the exception.
      • Our community center runs best when students pay their monthly fees on time (regardless of attendance). Please make sure you know, from Lisa or Pete at the front desk, when your student fees are due. Payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Inquiries about payment as well as any concerns or questions should be made to Lisa or Pete.
